Five Ingredients to Ditch in Your Body Products
Ditch The Palm Oil
Many bar soaps use palm oil as a hardener. However, palm oil is a major driver of deforestation in some of the world's most biodiverse forests. Deforestation not only leads to the destruction of forests but also drives out and destroys wildlife. When buying soap look for a brand that uses Certified Sustainable Palm Oil (CSPO) or does not use palm oil. At The Adventuress Soap Co, we use only certified sustainable palm oil.
Stay Away From Parabens
Parabens are often used as a preservative in soap and beauty products which are known hormonal disruptors that can stay in the body wreaking havoc. To avoid parabens, avoid products containing ingredients ending in -paraben.
Back Away From The Sulfates
Sulfates are a detergent that give soap bubbly properties and are known to cause skin rashes, trigger allergies, and are harsh on sensitive skin. At Adventuress Soap Co, we use a sulfate-free base in our soaps.
Stay Away From Methylchloroisothiazolinone
This ingredient with the really long name is used in liquid soap products as a preservative. Methylchloroisothiazolinone is also a known allergen linked to skin dermatitis. Avoid products with Methylchloroisothiazolinone especially if you have sensitive skin or suffer from allergies.
Stay Away From Phthalates
Phthalates can be found in fragrance oils and can affect the central nervous system. It is known to trigger dizziness, rashes, headaches, and nausea. When looking for soaps make sure that the seller uses phthalate-free fragrance oils. At The Adventuress Soap Co, we pride ourself on only using phthalate-free fragrance oils in all of our products.
